A SolarEdge power optimiser is small, smart electronic device that is fitted to the back of each solar panel to maximise the output of each panel.
Why SolarEdge Inverters and Power Optimisers?
Most solar power systems are installed with standard PV solar inverters. The inverters are a “string” inverter and control 2 strings of solar panels. All the panels in a string must face the same direction. The inverter does see each individual panel, it only sees the two strings of panels and treats each string almost as one individual panel.
The major limitation of a string inverter is every panel in the string only outputs to the power of the worst performing panel in the string. This means that if you have a panel affected by shade and its output drops by 10%, the output of all other panels in the string will drop 10% too. If a panel fails completely all other panels in that string stop producing too.
SolarEdge power optimisers overcome these issues to maximise the solar system output. A power optimiser is fitted to each panel to optimise the panel output and can allow panels to face in multiple directions. The SolarEdge inverter sees each panel individually.

Solar Edge Advanced Monitoring
The SolarEdge monitoring platform allows comprehensive monitoring of your solar system down to the individual panel level. You can the check system output and click on each individual panel to check its performance.
If a panel is not performing to warranted output this gives the data needed to make a performance warranty claim on the panel.
The monitoring is done through an app on your Apple or Android device or via the SolarEdge portal and allows you set and receive alerts. The smart sensors that allow this are built in to the SolarEdge power optimisers and transmitted though the power lines to the inverter so no extra wiring or hardware is needed.
SolarEdge HD Wave Single Phase Solar Inverter
This award winning solar inverter is a technology leap above traditional string solar inverters and designed specifically to work in hand with the SolarEdge power optimisers. The standard warranty on this inverter is 12 years with options to extend it 20 or 25 years
Because the solar optimisers handle specific functions at the panel level (voltage management and MPPT – Maximum Power Point Tracking) all the SolarEdge inverter has to is convert DC electricity from the panel to AC electricity for the home making it a more simple and reliable inverter.
