LG is a global brand founded in 1947 and had global revenues of US$147 billion in 2018. Most of the Chinese brand T1 panels in the market only have a 10 year product warranty and most do not cover labour for replacing the panel. Why only 10 years? Because the manufacturer thinks the panel may only last 10 years and things may go wrong after that. If something does go wrong within 10 years and your installer is out of business, then best of luck dealing with the panel manufacturer in China.

LG Improved Performance Warranty 25 Years
The performance of all solar panels degrades over time. The most important thing to understand is how fast they degrade and to what extent. All solar panels come with a performance warranty that warrants by how much the output will decrease over 25 years. The biggest performance drop occurs in the first year.
In the first year the LG solar panel will only degrade by -2% (down from -3%) and the yearly degradation over the next 24 years is now only -0.33%, down from -0.7%. These small numbers pay big dividends. After 25 years the LG is warranted to be still producing 90.08% of its rated output. This compares to only 83% for many competing panels (if they still are producing after 25 years – as many of these panels only have a 10 year product warranty!)

Better Low Light performance
The LG N-Type silicon used in the panel modules is more sensitive in low light increasing output in low light situations. Over the life of the system this results in increased yield compared to standard panels
Double Sided Cello Technology
Most standard panels on have 6 busbars passing through each module on the panel, where as the LG panels have a their unique Cello Technology with 12 busbars in each module. This reduces current resistance, increases power output and improves reliability.
With this technology being double sided on the front and back of each module, it allows the panel to collect light spill over from the back of the panel and under the panel, again helping enhance the panel output compared to standard panels.

LG NEoN® R Solar Panel

In terms of output these panels are a solar milestone. All residential solar panels typically consist of 60 solar modules that create the power. Most of the panels in the Australian market only offer power output between 300W and 330W. In physical terms the LG NeON® R consists of 60 modules as well and are a similar size as these standard panels but output a massive 370 and 375W, and feature up to 21.7% efficiency.
The LG NeON® R modules deliver high output and higher yield and the 375W LG NeON® R output is over 17% higher than a standard 320W panel. As a result of LG’s extensive Solar R&D investment, the panel has 30 multi ribbon busbars which have been moved to the rear of the module. This allows a larger front cell structure to be exposed to light, generating more electricity. Most standard panels have only 3 or 4 busbars on the front of the panel.
The New LG NEoN® 2 BiFacial Clear
Compared to earlier LG panels the new 60 cell LG NeON®2 BiFacial has seen many improvements to earlier panels including longer warranties, higher efficiency and lower degradation.
Many improvements have been made to the LG NeON®2 BiFacial compared to previous earlier LG panels. These improvements include the advantages detailed above including longer warranties to a 25-year product warranty, greater panel efficiency and lower panel degradation to increase system yield over time.
The LG NeON® 2 BiFacial panel modules have the NeON® 2 double sided CELLO modules combined with a clear back sheet. This allows the panel to generate power from both the front and rear of the module. Additional power is generated from the light that is reflected off the roof or ground surface underneath the panel being absorbed by the rear side of the cells of the module.
The NeON® 2 BiFacial also takes advantage of the 12 busbars in the CELLO modules (most competing panels only have 6) reducing resistance to the electric current generated, increasing the power output and offering greater panel reliability.
The New LG NEoN® 2 Black Solar Panel

LG NEoN® 2 415W Solar Panel
The new LG NeON® 2 72 cell has seen many improvements, from longer warranties and higher efficiency to lower degradation. This is an ideal panel for commercial systems or solar farms requiring efficient use of space and a high quality panel with great output efficiency.
The new NeON® 2 with 72 cells again features the award winning LG CELLO Technology which replaces typical 3 busbars in each cell with 12 thin wires to enhance power output. This technology sets a new standard for innovation and was recognised with the 2015 Photovoltaic Innovation Award at the Intersolar Industry Event in Germany. LG also won the 2016 Intersolar award for our new NeON® Bifacial range.
The NeON® Cell produces energy from both the front and the back of the cell. This innovative approach allows the absorption of light from the back of the cell whichraises the panel’s efficiency and power output. Standard panels only absorb light from the front.
LG NEoN® 2 BiFacial 405W Solar Panel
The LG NeON® 2 BiFacial module combines the NeON® 2 double sided CELLO cell with a clear backsheet. This enables the panel to generate power from both the front and rear of the module. Additional power is generated from the light that is reflected off the roof or ground surface underneath being absorbed by the rear side of the cells of the module.
The NeON® 2 BiFacial also adopts LG’s unique CELLO technology with 12 multi wire busbars to reduce current resistance, enhancing power output and panel reliability. It also has very good low light and high temperature characteristics allowing solid long term output in commercial systems.
The LG 405Watt boasts 19.5% efficiency.
In optimised tilt frame installations the 405W BiFacial panel can achieve close to 30% more output from light absorption via the rear of the double sided cell. Higher reflective backgrounds and raised installation environments combined will increase the output far beyond that expected from a conventional monofacial panel.
