Sungrow SBH Battery Series
The Sungrow SBH Battery Series is an efficient, modular, energy storage solution for homes and businesses. These high voltage batteries are a smart choice for customers looking for a cost effective and reliable battery solution.
Each battery module has a capacity of 5kWh and stack on top of each other in a plug and play fashion requiring no external cabling. A single stack can contain up to 8 energy modules for a capacity of 40 kWh. Up to 4 stacks can joined in parallel for 160kWh of energy storage. Extra modules can be also added after the battery is in production.
The SBH uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry which is proven to have longer lifespan then Lithium Ion batteries, and offers good performance at high temperatures. They are considered the safest battery type for home use.
Standard solar systems and many solar and battery solutions cannot offer protection in a power blackout. However the Sungrow SBH battery in conjunction with a Sungrow hybrid inverter, automatically provides backup power for the home in a power outage.

Energy Security
Protection from Power Outages
Sungrow hybrid inverters are used in conjunction with the Sungrow SBH battery series so the battery solution can offer automatic protection from blackouts for your home or business. Standard solar systems cannot do this.
The inverter detects if the grid has goes down and will switch over in under 10 milliseconds to battery backup power providing emergency power for the home. This means there minimal interruption to power for the home.
This functionality needs to be set up and configured during the installation of the battery.

Sungrow Modular Architecture
SBH Expandable Capacity
The battery consists of 4 components that stack together with no external wiring:
- Base plate
- PACKS – these are the 5kWh battery power storage modules
- Switching gear – this contains the battery management system
- Top cover.
This modular architecture means the battery stack capacity can be increased in 5kWh units from 10kWh through to 40kWh. If you first purchase a smaller capacity battery you can later add extra power modules to expand it. However there are there are technical limitations regarding this.
The modules are “plug and play” and no wiring is required when expanding the battery stack making it an easy job to increase capacity. Note that capacity increases an only be undertaken in the early part of the battery life.
Moreover up to 4 x 40kWh batteries can be joined in parallel to a maximum energy storage capacity of 160kWh.
Battery Monitoring
iSolar Cloud Monitoring Platform
One of the great features of Sungrow batteries is the Sungow iSolar platform that allows for the monitoring and management of the solar and battery system.
iSolar is available as an app on your phone or can be accessed via a web browser. It allows you to monitor live:
- System power production
- Battery charge and usage
- Home consumption and energy self-sufficiency.
It can reports on a daily, weekly or monthly basis your energy usage and self sufficiency and total savings.
The platform will also alert in the event of and issue with the battery or solar system.

Sungrow SBR batteries offer 100% usable energy coupled with 50A continuous charging and discharging for high performance.
Lithium iron phosphate battery chemistry is used in the modules which is a leading chemistry in terms of performance and safety. Being fully certified the battery safety protections include:

- Over current protection
- Over / under temperature protection
- DC breaker.
