Most standard residential installs are completed in 1-2 days, depending on roof access, system size, and switchboard requirements. Your installer will confirm timing after the site check and paperwork stage.

The team mounts the panels, runs cabling, installs/links the inverter, and connects the system to your home’s electrical setup and the grid (with testing and commissioning). After install, you’ll be shown how to read your monitoring so you can track performance.

System size depends on your annual usage, daytime vs night usage, roof space, and future plans (battery, EV, pool, air con). A good quote should be based on your bills plus a roof design/layout – so the system is sized for real-world savings, not just the cheapest price.

Most homes are suitable, but results depend on shade, roof orientation, available usable area, roof condition, and how complex the roof is (multi-storey, steep pitch, tile type). A proper assessment checks these factors to avoid underperformance and surprise “extras” on the day.

In most cases you can access incentives that reduce upfront cost (commonly STCs for eligible rooftop solar). Eligibility depends on system size, equipment, and compliance—your installer should include the rebate value clearly in the quote and explain what’s required to claim it. Your solar system will begin saving you money from day one. Remember that every kWh of power that you consume from the system will save you 30 to 48c depending on the time of day.

In order to get your feed in tariff for any excess power you produce and export back to the grid you will need to have a net meter installed by your energy provider. Once your solar system is installed you need to contact to your provider to organise their installation of the net meter. Once this is installed they will be able to measure your power exports and pay you the feed in tariff.

Most roof types are suitable for solar as we have mounting bracket and systems for tile and metal roofs. Tilt frame mounts can be used on roofs with shallow pitches. On a flat concrete slab roof we use ballast mounting so there is no danger of compromising water-proof membranes. Your SolarBright consultant will assess your roof and advise you accordingly.
