MaxBreeze Solar Roof Ventilation FAQs
Here are some of the frequently asked questions about Solar Roof Ventilation. If you still have any questions, please free to get in touch with us and one of our friendly team members will be happy to help.
-
How much air can a MaxBreeze solar fan move?
The MaxBreeze MB400 can move 2,200 cubic meters of air per hour and do the work of many wind powered whirly-birds.
-
Do MaxBreeze solar fans leak?
The SolarBright custom designed flashings are engineered to perfectly suit Australian roof types providing leak proof installations when the installation instructions are followed.
-
Does solar roof ventilation work when there is no wind?
The MaxBreeze will work when there is no wind unlike a wind powered whirly-bird. When the sun is shining the MaxBreeze automatically turns on when the roof cavity warms up to about 25 degrees.
-
Why is solar roof ventilation important?
On hot summer days the temperature in your roof cavity will reach 60 to 65 degrees C. This heat radiates through any insulation down into the home making the air conditioner work harder to cool your home. If air conditioning ducting runs in the cavity, the heat will superheat the ducting and the conditioned air inside making the air conditioner less efficient.
In colder winter months, moisture from everyday activities inside the house can enter the roof cavity. Without proper ventilation, this moisture promotes mold and mildew and saturates insulation.
-
Does my roof already have ventilation?
Most (but not all) roofs have some form of static ventilation. Static vents or ridge vents will help but generally do not provide sufficient air movement to pull heat and moisture from the roof cavity.
-
Is a MaxBreeze solar powered ventilation fan difficult to install?
The MaxBreeze can be installed by a technician in around an hour and due to the straight forward installation process and seamless flashings, suits DIY.
-
What type of roof can a MaxBreeze fan be installed on?
SolarBright MaxBreeze solar roof fans can be installed virtually on any residential or commercial building. The solar panel can be angled to the position it will collect the most sunlight providing optimal venting performance on all roof slopes.
-
How quiet are MaxBreeze fans?
SolarBright solar power ventilation fans are designed for quiet operation. The MaxBreeze MB250 operates under 44dB and the larger MB400 under 46db.
-
Can MaxBreeze solar fans run at night?
Yes certain models can. The Zephyr model has built in solar battery that charges during the day to power the fan at night if required. The remote controlled MaxBreeze Plus models have AC power backup for use at night.
-
Is there any electrical wiring required to install solar fans?
Not for standard MaxBreeze solar powered medals. However, the MaxBreeze Plus models comes AC backup power supply which requires the installation of a standard power point in the cavity near the fan.
-
How expensive are solar roof ventilation fans?
The quality thermostat controlled MB250starts at around $620 plus installation.
