What are the best solar panels? LG solar panels were regarded as the best because of their superior performance and industry leading warranty. LG have now left the solar industry.
SolarBright has built a trusted reputation. We offer our customers the best solar panel technology at accessible prices. When searching for a premium panel to replace the LG, we wanted a panel that was better than the LG, not just equal to it.
The panel that bettered the LG on technical criteria was the Max Power Solar 390N panel. This solar panel is now our premium panel with features unmatched by competitors. It is available exclusively through SolarBright. Check out the Max Power VS LG comparison page HERE and make up your own mind.
If you can’t afford premium solar panels then buy the best panels you can afford. SolarBright also installs high quality solar panels from leading manufacturers including EGing, Hyundai, Solar Edge and Seraphim.
Be aware that cheap solar panel installations often cut corners with poor quality workmanship and panels. You may save $1000 in upfront cost but it could cost you many times this, due to poor energy production and a shortened system life. Buy cheap, pay twice. Technology to Look For When Choosing the Best Solar Panels
Solar Panels are the heart of your solar system and the same holds true for solar panels as for any other technology purchase – you get what you pay for. When you are wanting to choose the best solar panels here are some key technology features to look for. These features are what make the best solar panels stand out from the pack.
Does the Solar Panel have Dual Glass?
Check that the solar panel features Dual Glass – that is both the front sheet and the backing sheet are both glass. All panels have a glass front sheet, but most only have a plastic backing sheet. In very hot Aussie and Sydney summers after years on the roof with scorching temperatures, this plastic backing sheet can begin to peel off.
When this happens it allows moisture to get into the cells in the solar panel. This is a big problem causing the panel to fail. That’s why you see standard solar panels with plastic backing sheets will only have product warranties of 12 years or so.
Dual glass panels have greater efficiency, strength and longevity and will have a product warranty of 25-years.
Does the Panel Feature N-Type Cell Technology?
Look for N-Type cell technology in the solar panel. Most panels sold in Australia only have P-Type cells. “N-Type” and “P-Type” refer to the doping process used when producing the cells used in the panels.
Why do the best solar panels use N-Type cells? It is because this type of cell is much more sensitive to low light conditions. A panel with N-Type cells will start producing power earlier in the morning light, and keep producing until later in the day. They will also produce more power in cloudy conditions.
This means a solar system with the best panels will produce more power everyday for the life of the system, maximising the amount of savings for the customer.
Does the Panel have Bifacial Technology?
A solar panel with bifacial technology can produce power from both the front and the back of the cells. This increases the efficiency and output of the panel compared to standard panels. Again this means more power and more savings for the customer.
Ask about these superior technologies when discussing panel choice. If the supplier dismisses them, you will know they do not have your best interest at heart.
Solar Panel Warranties
When looking for the best panels in Sydney take time to understand the warranties that are offered with the product. Solar panels have two different types of warranty attached to them – product warranty and performance warranty.
The product warranty covers the panel materials and workmanship, much like the warranty you get with an electrical appliance. Most standard panels will come with only a 12 or 15 year product warranty. The best solar panels will offer a 25-year product warranty.
The performance warranty covers the output of the panel. The performance of all solar panels decreases over time. The regulator in Australia states that all solar panels must have a warranted output after 25-years. Many standard panels are warranted at producing only 80% of their original output after 25-years.
The best solar panels degrade more slowly than standard panels and will still be producing over 85% of their power rating after 25-years. Again this means more output and more savings for the customer over the life of the system. The best solar panels will offer a 30-year performance warranty.
Always question your supplier very carefully regarding the solar panel warranties. Be aware that some will infer their panel has a “25-year warranty” when the actual product warranty on the panel is only 12 or 15 years.
Now that LG has pulled out of the solar market, SolarBright offers the outstanding Max Power Solar MPS-390N solar panel that features all these leading solar panel technologies. It is an Australian brand and backed with 25-year product and an outstanding 30-year performance warranty.

How Come Other Solar Power Installers Won’t Do a Home Visit?
Many companies advertising cheap solar panels cannot offer a home visit. Many operate out of overseas call centres, and it is not cheap to fly in staff for a Sydney solar power home visit! Seriously however, the question to think about is this. If they will not take the time to visit you when you are buying solar, what hope do you have of them ever visiting you if something goes wrong with their “cheap” solar PV system?
If your electrical board or roof is not inspected prior to solar panel installation this can lead to unexpected issues and last-minute cost increases on installation day. This is common tactic, and suddenly your “cheap” solar system is not that cheap anymore.
How Much Do Solar Panels Cost in Sydney?
Solar panel costs in Sydney varies according to the brand, the power of the panels, the quality of the panels and other factors. In Sydney in July 2022 a 6.6kW solar system with high quality panels from a reputable installer such as SolarBright, is between $4000 and $5000. You can check our solar Special Offers page HERE.
You will see solar PV systems advertised for under $3500. The main way to cut the cost of a system is to take shortcuts with the installation quality and standards. This presents safety issues for the homeowner. We often must take down cheap solar systems that are only 4 years due to poor installation and quality.
