Tesla Powerwall
The Tesla Powerwall 2 is a fully-integrated AC battery system suitable residential or light commercial use. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack has a 13.5kWh energy storage capacity for solar self-consumption.
The Powerwall can also provide backup power during blackouts.
The Tesla Powerwall electrical interface provides a simple connection to any home or building. Being AC coupled (connected to the meter board) it is straightforward to install a Powerwall to existing solar systems. This means it can be connected without having to replace the existing solar system inverter. This is discussed below in more detail.

The Tesla Powerwall app makes it easy to monitor and manage the battery in real time.
The app lets you to monitor solar energy production and consumption, battery charge levels, and also manage the battery mode of operation.
This allows you to customise the Powerwall usage to meet your specific needs. You can select different operation modes to change the way the Powerwall is charged and discharged.
Self-Powered Mode – minimises your carbon footprint and become more energy independent.
Backup Mode – this setting maximises protection during a grid outage to allow you keep power to the home.
Time-Based Control – with this setting if your energy price varies through the day, you can manage when the Powerwall discharges to lower your energy bill.
